Richard Ballinger

Richard Ballinger is one of the South West’s most experienced magicians and entertainers who has been amazing, mystifying and, most of all, amusing audiences since the 1980s.

He is fully DBS checked (formerly CRB), a long-standing member of Equity, The Bristol Society of Magic and The International Brotherhood of Magicians and specialises in children’s, family and comedy magic and entertainment.

His act combines close up magic tricks, balloon-modelling, mentalism, puppeteering and ventriloquism.

He’s performed in front of small groups of family and friends through to hundreds at corporate venues such as Center Parcs and Pontin’s.

A qualified mechanical engineer, Richard Ballinger left the world of manufacturing behind to step into the world of entertainment and training where he has built a career around magic over the past 25 years.

He is also a qualified teacher who uses his magic skills – as part of his Training With Magic and Magic Workshops services – to help schoolchildren develop their mathematical and personal skills working with the likes of business dynamics, Connexions, Young Enterprise and a number of schools across the South West and South Wales.

Using his background in business, management and industry, he has also adapted these services for adults where he uses magic to enhance personal presentation techniques, build self-confidence, self-esteem and other essential business skills.
